Kitchen Idea

Hopefully one day really soon, Michael and I will actually redo our kitchen.  In the meantime, just to consolidate ideas in one place... here's a picture I found... This might be doable!

Mortified

When I went to Miss Kitty's to pick up Winston yesterday (he goes every Tuesday and Thursday and while costly and ridiculous that we send our dog to daycare it makes all the difference in our world as he's physically exhausted that night and the entire next day... don't knock it till you try it), the dog sitter informed me that Winston was aggressive towards other dogs that morning and he bit one of the other groomers!  Oh my word.  Is this what parents feel like?  Because, if so, then I just solidified that I don't want children.

The hard part is that I can't punish him; he has no idea what he did to deserve punishment (it was 9 hours before I picked him up).  But, if he does it again, he won't be allowed back to Miss Kitty's.

Just. Plain. Mortified.

What I Want My Home to Look Like

I religiously read the blog, Haven and Home.  I happened across it one day while I was blog hopping (i.e. I started with one of my friend's blogs which led to one of her friend's blogs which eventually led to Haven and Home).  The blogger posted these pictures of a "weekend home," but I love them for my home.

Entry: I love the sign, the red doors, the sconces, the planters...

Den: Love the fireplace (not so much the animal head though), black and white pillows, ticking stripe couch, the dog painting behind the couch, lights hanging over the kitchen counter, globe, love it all.

And how about this barn door... I've seen this a lot lately but that doesn't diminish how much I like it.  It just has so much character. And, I love the black against the white walls.

Kitchen: Corkscrew counter stools.  Nuff said.

Coat Area: This is just plain fabulous.  From the painted coat hanger to the zebra ottoman.   I believe I already own two of the metal umbrella holders so that's one less thing I have to buy in order to have this area in my house...

Bedroom: Um, need I say anything at all about the side table.  Just my favorite friend, Louis Vuitton, proudly displayed.

House Hunting One Sunday Afternoon

Since we bought our house over two years ago, I have become obsessed with home design, renovations, layout, colors, decorating, furniture - you name it!  Michael thinks I am absolutely crazy because it's all I want to talk about but I can't help it.

So, this Sunday afternoon, I convinced him to go to two open houses with me.  Both houses are on my route to the gym and both have been on the market for quite a while.  Both are completely out of our price range but sometimes it's fun just to go see what may happen one day.

To make Michael feel better, I'll just say that neither house would I buy on the spot.  They "could" be beautiful homes but in my humble opinion they would need some work for me to feel like they matched my personal style.  However, that being said, both homes had some things that I loved.

The first house we went to is on Woodmont.  It's been listed for two years.  The original asking price was $2.8 million - but now, it's listed at $1.5 million.  What a steal! :) 

It's a beautiful, very stately home.  Huge, Scarlett O'Hara, staircase in the front foyer, hardwood floors everywhere, 10 foot ceilings downstairs, renovated kitchen and den area.  But then you go upstairs... They added a master bedroom but it wasn't very nicely done.  Then the other five bedrooms and 4 bathrooms hadn't even been touched!  It was kind of sad.  All in all, Michael and I will never live in a home this big (I mean 6 bedrooms, really?), but a smaller version would be nice.  Here's a few pictures:

The second house we visited is on Valley Brook.  Again, since it was listed for so long the owners reduced the price from $1.2 million to just under $1 million.  This one is made out of beautiful gray limestone.  It was built in the 1940's and there were several renovations made to it.  You could tell, because the flow of the house didn't run smoothly.  But, this house had one of the best things I have ever seen in a house!!!  The upstairs was very, very recent.  They added a master bed and bath AND a den area that opened out to a second story HUGE covered porch - complete with fireplace.  It overlooked their immaculate backyard and just happened to sit over their three car garage (I would have to get my third car, I guess ;)).

I would never leave this place at all! Michael would have to carry to me to bed unwillingly EVERY night.

Michael calls me a more, more, more person but I can't help it when I see beautiful homes like this!  A girl can dream I guess.

Starting Out...

This whole blogging thing seems silly to me... But everyone else is doing it. So, I realized that while I may not publish this to people whom I know for a while, this is a great way to keep a journal of things that are going on. A common place to keep pictures, thoughts, funny anecdotes (I don't think I have any off the top of my head, but maybe some will come to me), etc.

So I'm starting out as a blogger... Let's see how this goes. :)
